Sylia Stingray is the oldest child of Dr. Katsuhito Stingray, and the sole inheritor of his original work on boomers, as well as other technologies developed that have since been forgotten. Using this information she created the first "hardsuit," directly from her father's orignal designs, modified for her configurations, and eventually three others to form the Knight Sabers. Sylia maybe the eldest KS at 22, but carries a grace and calculating demeanor that defies her age. However, behind that cold visage is a woman that shares in the concerns and cares of her team, friends and family. Operating behind the guise of a lingerie shop, "Silky Doll," Sylia can often be seen showing that warm smile, while maintaining a low yet wealthy profile, secretly preparing for a war that only she can fight.
Little is known of Sylia's parents, other than Katsuhito suggests a Japanese heritage, however Stingray does not. Her mother is not mentioned in the entire OVA, but from her ep1 flashback it can be assumed that she lost her mother prior to the age of 10. There is evidence that they may be of German blood, Sylia is seen reading a German newspaper, in BGCrash Mackie has moved to Germany and Dr. Stingray's past assistants have last names of Yuri and Haynes, again caucassion in nature. Also Dr. Stingray has brown hair, where his two children have black hair with blue tint (referred to as Raven Blue), which suggests a none Japanese heritage as well. The obvious conclusion is the her mother is most likely German, but from her fathers naming it is possible that it is he that is part German, inheriting the Stingray name, but acquiring a Japanese first name.
Sylia lives above her lingerie shop in a spacous apartment suite that includes a swimming pool, a favourite pass time to relieve stress. Her apartment, shop, and operation is run through the "Lady's 633" building located in the Tinsel City district, however she has invested in several other businesses, such as "Survival Shot," which again are part of her network and fronts for the KS. She drives a beautiful red vintage Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, and while on business can be seen driving a large red delivery truck marked with "Silky Doll," a second larger grey unmarked truck was constructed after the initial deal with USSD as the previous truck was too conspicuous.
