Original Score
I've always felt that the score and the soundtrack of any given film are distinct and should be available seperately. This is one area where we can try to appease both the Japanese and English audiences, since most movie fans never know who produced the score, unless otherwise advertised. This is an added bonus, as it shouldn't matter what name produced the score, only that the audience will enjoy it and hopefully buy it. This is especially true if the score is tasteful, unique and inspiring.
Throughout our discussions such composers as John Williams and Danny Elfman have come up. We've also discussed a Japanese composer by the name of Yoko Kanno, who is more known for her work in Anime. The idea of a collaboration between both a known Western composer and a Japanese composer allowed us to appease both audiences, while bringing recognition to the Japanese composer to Western film making. It is also a concept that should bring the unique sound that is required for this movie. Along the lines of the collaboration, we have thought of having rock star Billy Corgan or industrialist Trent Reznor bring his unique rock/electronic writing to the film as well.
