Import Soundtrack

The importance of the Japanese market to this movie can never be emphasized enough, as such incorporating Japanese artists into the soundtrack is as important as Western artists. Much like the domestic release the import should be lead by female vocalists as well. However, it's much more difficult to find Japanese artists than to find Western that fit the cyberpunk sound. Japanese music is often referred to as Jpop or Jrock, Jpop includes pop, dance, r&b and rap, where as Jrock includes rock, heavy metal and alternative. The problem lies in the fact that there are few female lead Jrock groups or artists. So, it may be necessary to incorporate Japanese artists into the Western domestic release as an import to Japan.

But here is a listing of potential artists:

  • ank
  • Ayumi Hamasaki
  • Every Little Thing
  • Hitomi
  • Nanase Aikawa
  • Olivia Lufkin
  • Sheena Ringo
  • The Brilliant Green
  • Utada Hikaru

It should also be mentioned that some of the artists listed above have released English tracks as well, which may prove useful if only one soundtrack is released rather than two.
